Word prediction on the DynaVox/DynaMyte is the most effective when vocabulary items
are predictable and recognizable. These items are predictable when the device user
can guess where they will appear on a keyboard page without searching. Likewise,
items are recognizable when each have a distinct quality to be quickly identified.
Learning outcomes:
Participants will be able to learn strategies for the best prediction
arrangements for easy recognition on a keyboard page.
Participants will be able to
discover strategies of which options in the word prediction menu on how to make vocabulary
items the most predictable appearing on the same location of a page. These options
will include Recency Length, Threshold, Ordering and Grammar.
Participants will be
able to learn how to add and edit in the Vocabulary Editor to make word prediction
the most predictable for the user in giving items a frequency value and symbols.
Participants will be able to customize symbols in the Symbol Editor to make word
prediction even more recognizable for the individual user. Techniques will show how
names of friends and family members can be identified with unique symbols.
